Areas of Interest:

  • Conservation of forest biodiversity, particularly genetic diversity
  • Ecosystem services (the many benefits and services that nature offers, and the scope to which we as a people are dependent on them)and flood plain restoration


Current Research Projects

  • Characterizing genetic diversity of natural populations of tree species for the purpose of developing gene conservation strategies; restoration of disease-free American beech (_Fagus grandifolia_) by identifying applicable methods for vegetative propagation and screening for genetic resistance
  • Examining the expression of phenotypic traits in eastern hemlock (_Tsuga canadenis_)
  • Studying the use of bur oak (_Quercus macrocarpa_) as a restoration species
