Profile

Joan joined the Canadian Forest Service in November, 2003.  Her research involves the development of enhanced inventory methods for resource characterization.  This includes multi-scale approaches for spatially estimating inventory attributes using ground, airborne and satellite remotely-sensed data.  She also develops methods to monitor and report on forest structure and composition using earth observation data.
